JainGPT exists to make the teachings of Jainism accessible and accurate. This page explains where our answers come from, how they are produced, and how we handle mistakes.

Where our answers come from

Every answer on JainGPT is generated against a curated digital library of Jain source material — including primary scriptures (Āgamas), classical commentaries, and peer-reviewed scholarly works drawn from the Jain eLibrary collection. When you read an answer, the Source References section lists the specific texts the response was grounded in.

How answers are generated

• A retrieval system searches our indexed Jain texts for the passages most relevant to your question.
• An AI model composes an answer from those retrieved passages, rather than from open-ended memory, to keep responses tied to real sources.
• Answers lead with the specifically Jain understanding of a subject and label wider historical context separately, to avoid conflating traditions.

Accuracy & limitations

Jain philosophy spans multiple traditions (notably Digambara and Śvetāmbara) that can differ on points of doctrine and practice. Where views differ, we aim to note this rather than present one position as universal. AI-generated summaries can still contain errors or omissions, and should not be treated as a substitute for a qualified teacher (guru), ācārya, or primary text for matters of religious observance.

Our Community Q&A is organised by topic. Questions are moderated before publication, and each published answer follows the same sourcing approach described above.

Corrections

If you find an answer that is inaccurate or incomplete, we want to fix it. Please contact us with the page and the correction, and we will review it against the source texts.
