Who Manages the Delwara (Dilwara) Jain Temples?

The Delwara (Dilwara) Jain temples are administered by the Seth Kalyanji Parmanandji Pedhi, the trust that also publishes the complex's own guide — Delwara Jain Temples by Muni Jayantvijay, which covers the Mahavirswami temple, Vimal Vasahi, the Hastishala, Luna Vasahi and Pittalhar.

Two other institutions are often confused with it, and it is worth keeping them apart:

• The Sheth Anandji Kalyanji Pedhi of Ahmedabad is a separate and much larger body which administers many Shvetambara tirthas. It carried out major renovation at Delwara, alongside Ranakpur, Shatrunjaya and Taranga, under its long-serving president Sheth Kasturbhai Lalbhai — work well enough regarded that the government committee on religious trusts under Sir C.P. Ramaswami recommended other trusts adopt its management pattern. Its role at Delwara has been restoration and the settlement of disputes rather than day-to-day management.
• The Achalgarh shrines, about three miles above Delwara, are run by their own trustees. They also maintain the travellers' rest-house on the Delwara–Achalgarh road and the old Mahavirasvami shrine at the village of Oriya.

For visitors this distinction is practical: questions about the Delwara temples themselves — timings, photography, arrangements for pilgrims — go to the Kalyanji Parmanandji pedhi at Delwara, not to the Ahmedabad pedhi.
